Statement by Bob Zimmer MP on the Passing of Jim Hillyer MP
OTTAWA – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies issued the following statement regarding the sudden passing of Jim Hillyer, Member of Parliament for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner:
“I was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of my colleague, seatmate in the House of Commons, and good friend Jim Hillyer.
“Just yesterday Jim was talking about how glad he was to be back in Ottawa after having to take some time off for health reasons. We talked politics, of course, but also about how life was good as it seemed as though he was on the mend.
“My wife Val and I truly enjoyed the company of Jim and his wife Livi during a trip to Taiwan a few years ago and Jim was always willing to lace up the skates for a hockey game with colleagues – even when his leg was giving him grief.
“Jim was dedicated to serving his constituents, but his true sense of pride came from his faith and family.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Livi and their children during this extremely difficult time.
“From my wife and family to Livi and the kids: Jim was a good man and we will miss him dearly.”
