MP Zimmer Travels to Washington DC

Fort St. John, BC – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies and Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus travelled to Washington DC yesterday in order to promote Canada’s interests regarding the outdoor community as well as softwood lumber.

Mr. Zimmer met and spoke with US Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue as well as Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke.

“It was my privilege to be invited to attend the Congressional Sportsman’s Foundation Banquet and meet with many of my US counterparts to discuss issues of mutual importance,” said Mr. Zimmer. “Promoting our outdoor heritage is so important, it’s about educating people and letting them know that hunters and anglers are, first and foremost, conservationists.”

“We love our country and we, as well as millions of other Canadians, want to experience it,” continued Mr. Zimmer. “I was also able discuss the softwood lumber issue as it is imperative that we ensure that politicians south of the border are aware of the situation and how important it is that we get a deal as soon as possible.”

I would like to specifically thank Phil Morlock and Shimano Canada for the invitation and making these important connections possible.
