Liberal Anti-Resource Development Policies Continue to Drive Away Investment

FORT ST. JOHN – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, issued the following statement regarding the announcement by Woodside Energy that it is exiting the proposed Kitimat LNG project:

“The departure of Woodside Energy comes just months after Chevron Canada made the decision to walk away from this project thanks to Liberal policies and practices that continue to drive investments and jobs out of Canada.

“As we here in Northeastern BC know, projects like Kitimat LNG can produce some of the cleanest, most ethically-sourced liquefied natural gas in the world. It can also play an important role in reducing global emissions.

“We should be championing these projects. Instead, the Liberals have created a regulatory regime that is driving investment away and fails to protect the environment.

“I have always said that the world needs more Canada. That is why my Conservative colleagues and I remain focused on securing our economic recovery, protecting Canadian energy workers, and ensuring world-class Canadian projects move forward.”
